KEMBALI KE TANAH
KEMBALI on a misty tropical morning
Meaning"back to the land", Kembali completes the cycle of Maylay boat names I began in 1976.
The boats (Rasa Saya, Sayang, Jalan Jalan, Tingal, Tidak Apa) never got back to Indonesia.
But KEMBALI sits over vistas of sea, bays, hills and meadows on an island more beautiful than Java.

Both residence and apartment have this same view. Our splendid view. The white house on the hill opposite belongs to Rosa's niece, Xiomara, and her husband, Ronald.
KEMBALI: bougainvillea, flamboyans, papaya . . . The view from the bedroom in the morning when the mists in the valley turn gold with sun and swirl away uphill.

residence gallery, or 'cockpit' if you wish Open blocks and French windows and doors vent the house throughout. As seen here, we used glass diffusion blocks where there is no good view my desk window: louvered for many air options, and also pivoted to open fully

master bedroom: Kembali's the final vessel, this must be the 'deathbed' looking through livingroom into diningroom ... the lazyboy sits on the right

the kitchen: just like a big galley walk-through dressingroom leads to a full European bath with oldsters' handgrabs ... and of course, good friends for our first dinner in the diningroom

the southern exposure: a paradisical scene from a Dick and Jane reader

Three decades living aboard and an average nine months a year underway have ended.
No regrets, lots of hope, and for all our friends we wish the same:
Salud, Dinero y Amor, y el tiempo para disfrutarlo!
